Doing my due diligence to spread the word!
If you know of anyone interested in buying/leasing a car tell them to AVOID Ford/Mazda of Orange @ Katella and Main.

Went with the ex-wife' to help her buy out her expired lease and Ford/Mazda of Orange, here's the highlights!
1) could not locate a copy of the lease
2) misstated the pay off amount to include a $695 'fee' to buy the car from the lease company and 'sell' it to her
3) threatened to add another $695 to the pay off amount they generated if they had to actually voice call Ford Motor Credit if she didn't agree to the first $695
4) While I contacted another dealer's finance manager (family member) who informed me they can not legally add anything to the pay off amount they sent in at least 3 other 'Finance People' to disrupt me when they figured out to who/what I was talking
5) After hearing his advice I called "Bullcrap" the fee it's going away. I/we were ordered off the premises by one of the Finance people who started throwing a tantrum and stormed off much like 11 yr old daughter when she can't have a sleep over. Funny side note, Debbie (ex) was talking to Stacy (current) on the phone when all this was going on and got quite the kick out of how unprofessional and comical their response was to the situation.
6) Didn't leave, but called two other Ford dealers to inquire about paying off lease there. One's 'fee' was much less and another stated they didn't do that and thought it wasn't the best way to deal with customers. This dealer informed us that Ford Motor Credit would need to approve a 'transfer of the lease' to another dealer.
7) After jumping through a few hurdles with FMC, the contact was transfer and also found out the dealer had again misrepresented the pay off amount (Ford/Mazda of Orange shifted the number maybe 5+ times).

Ford/Mazda of Orange tried to pry at least an additional $1,490 (plus sales tax) out of her through threats and intimidation.

I wonder how many wilted under the pressure and just walked out of there lighter the cash?

8) Ford Motor Credit approved the transfer to Tuttle Click in Irvine, obtained pay off amount (with appropriate tax, title, etc) from Tuttle that matches what FMC says is the amount (plus the appropriate tax etc).

What should have been about 45 mins of paperwork took over 3 hrs and still need to go into Tuttle Click on Monday to pay it off.

Looking back at the red flags:
- Dealer did not have the lease on site/available
- Could not produce anything but 'their' pay off amount for the pay off (discrepant from FMC's amount) and could not explain the difference until HIGHLY pressured for a break out of tax, etc.
- Parade of diff "Finance Managers" in front of us
- The 'vehicle inspection' was their record for their purchase, should not have let it happen
- They relied heavily on the 'uncomfortable silence' to add pressure to the situation
- Anytime a business says they have an army of lawyers to defend them... probably means they need them and if you can WALK!!!

Of course that's just my version of things Whistle
